VOLUNTEERING PAGE

Ever thought of volunteering?
Welcome to our Volunteering pages.
There are amazing opportunities for you to enjoy the fun of Scouting by helping out with 20th Chiswick Scout Group. Get involved using skills you already have; maybe a first aider or a cook, or by giving instruction to young people on your favourite hobby or looking after a small group of young people on an occasional or regular basis.
Everyone has something to give. As well as working with young people, we have a number of behind-the-scenes roles so if working with children is not your thing but you would like to help us then we have roles that involve no contact with young people. Volunteering can fit around you and your life and give something back to your community.

We offer training and skills that benefit you both as an individual and a volunteer. You will learn new skills that enhance your CV, discover adventure and make new friends.

Volunteer Vacancies
Presently we are looking for enthusiastic people for the following positions:

IN OUR BEAVER COLONY

Beaver Scout Team Leader
This is a challenging opportunity for you to manage and lead the Beaver Section. You would be responsible for facilitating the smooth running of the Beaver Colony to include the planning and delivery of a range of activities at their weekly meetings that will provide fun and adventure to this age range. Included in these activities would be days out and sleep overs. You would be supported by Team Members and Young Leaders. This is a uniform position and full training is provided.
Beaver Scout Team Members

There will also be opportunities for days out and sleep overs. Your role will involve working closely with the Beaver Scout Team Leader other team members and Young Leaders to facilitate the smooth running of the Beaver Colony. This role is a uniform position and full training is provided.

IN OUR CUB PACK
Working with our Cub Scouts (8 to 10½ years) on Wednesday evenings approximately 6.15 - 8.15 p.m. during school term times. Occasional weekends and other evening meetings.
Cub Scout Team Members
An exciting role for people that like to get involved, helping with the organizing and planning of a range of activities to provide fun and adventure for this age range. Your role will involve working closely with the Cub Scout Team Leader (Akela) other team members and Young Leaders to facilitate the smooth running of the Cub Pack. This role is a uniform position and full training is provided.

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES
If you would be interested in volunteering there currently 2 roles available that do not involve directly working with young people.
Premises Manager
We are looking to engage someone to be responsible for the maintenance of our premises. Not necessarily to carry out the work, although for small tasks this would be an advantage, but to conduct regular inspections, note repairs that need carrying out, recording fault reports from users and obtaining estimates from the right people to carry out the work. To place estimates before the Trusteed for approval and then engage the approved service/supplier and supervise the execution of the job.

Safety Manager
We are looking to engage someone to be responsible for conducting safety audits of our premises. We are not controlled by the Health and Safety at Work Act or similar controls but do have a duty of care. It is a requirement of our governing body, The Scout Association, that we conduct and record regular safety audits and we would like the assistance of someone with expertise in this field. The right person would be reviewing our current audit and making recommendations to our Trustee Board who are responsible for taking the approved action.

If you would like further information please don’t hesitate to contact us. Details can be found on the Contact Us page on the website.
